Well, today is the day. Double nickles, as I said before. So, here I am. Halfway way through the fifties. I hope I am pulling it off with some dignity. That is the one thing I have always wanted.
So, I had a brake problem with the car that I am borrowing off one of the kids to work in. It has been making a qsuealing noise like it wants the brakes changed on the front end. I picked up the replacements for $45 yesterday, but had to go get the actual brakes after they came in on the truck this morning. Luckily the car is economical for the extra drive.
When I was out to get the brakes, I checked the cost of fuel around me, and while the one’s I could see ranged from $3.18 to $3.49, I saw on the app that fuel at the Logan Sam’s Club was at $2.85 per gallon. You bet I drove down the extra for that! I put in ten gallons, so it saved me a bit, in the range of as much as $5.00.
The brake job on the car I am using is interesting because the wheels are too tight for the hubs, and I have to loosen the lugnuts and drive on it like that to get it off the car. Of course, I only loosen a little bit and go till I hear it loose. Then I get it up on the jack and get the lugs and wheel off.
Can I just say the clips that hold the pads in place are such a pain in the ass! They barely allowed the pads to fit into the seats and it took a lot of work to get them there. Maybe I am just not expert enough, but it was painful as can be. I finally won, though, and I cleaned up and put my tools away, then went in to have a coffee and a seat, and I looked at the time and saw I was doing pretty good till I realized I was checking time on a clock that still has not been reset from the time change. I had ten minutes to get the coffee down and get ready to go get the girls from school.
Home to relax and eat, then have cake and relax some more, then bed. And that’s where I am at now.

Here is a pic of my cake, compliments of Dylan and Whitney, and topped with one of my homemade beeswax candles.
Okay, I am going to get ready to sleep very soon. I have a full workweek ahead of me, and I need to do like last week and earn a bit of extra. Should be okay to do as I am now more confident in the brakes.
